Robert Parker Jr – Summary Attempt – VI

13 September 2020 by Andrzej Szadkowski

The media selected for the broadcast have their rights. A resident of the Earth in the age of thumb and pervasive consumption does not have time to read long texts, prefers to watch pictures and emotionally associate them with the psyche. There is also a  cause-and-effect relationship between the image and the emotional experience, but this relationship has nothing to do with linear relationships, and modern man associates but individual images without noticing the connection between what he has done and what they will do him for it. So you have to write the texts resembling pictures, that is, compose posters for one maximum page. Therefore, it is necessary to slide on topics on the fringes of literature and popularisation.

When Robert Parker Jr was born,  America was on the postwar record, and the middle class was getting richer, the country was preparing for global expansion. The concept of globalisation was created, which will soon obtain a powerful impetus with the invention of the Internet. Robert Parker Jr’s father was a farmer, from our point of view a relatively rich peasant, then an entrepreneur, that is, he got urbanised because of the getting rich of the whole country. Such fathers fought in Europe during the war, bringing dreams of paradise lost from it, and their children returned to Europe to acquire the education. And for them Europe in the first place was France.

Globalisation has brought benefits to the strongest. It is only an extension to the whole world of the pros and cons of one, the strongest, society, and America fulfilled all the conditions to become such a society. The history of the world made young Americans choose Paris. There they met with what France had the best, that is, with cuisine and wines. At the same time,  California itself learned to use vines, so it was necessary to shape the taste and aspirations of Americans for California to win in the final instance.

The average American has been and continues to be a simple, rather straight-line human being, disliking swinging in the clouds and fond of success (and also hating coercion). Something in it is from a Pole, although there is no romanticism  at all. An American is rational and very materialistic in daily habits. The American taste should be shaped by referring to attachments and snobbery and promoting rocks binding opinions to the competition. An American takes for winner what has  100  points out of a hundred, but there needs to be someone who should give them. Robert Parker Jr understood this fact, as well as how one could use the tastes of others. It is interesting, moreover,  that America has not appreciated Parker as Europe knew to do it, up to now. Why did this happen? I will write about it in the next text.
